Warlock Question

You press Q to make they jump to target 

E to jump back to you

both of them have long cd 

and they cant jump over a wall , from outside to inside a house or etc

I have gotten mine to 35, and have a huge question...

 

My Thrall. When summoned it just stays in front of me and doesnt move. I have seen others leap towards the target. I know this is ignorance on my part and hope someone can help me figure this out.
