KFM Grapple does not count as a grab

So I've been using shin kick in PvE because it does a huge amount of damage and easily stacks searing palm, but I've noticed that when a KFM (Or summoner pet) grabs an enemy, it doesn't allow me to use shin kick even though it says it can be used on a grabbed target.
