ULFRIC
Hello, I just hit 45 and have been playing an Ice based Force Master for the entirety of my leveling. I like the way ice spells work more than fire spells and prefer to play a more supportive role rather than that of an aggressive DPS. With that in mind, are there any suggestions or things I should know to be better at keeping things frosted? Right now my main stream of attack is the Blizzard/Ice Rain combo thing. I have RMB set to not generate threat and increase ranged attack speed. 2 is the Ice Tornado thing (not sure if that's good or not?) And then I have the bubble that stays in place when it's cast and the party freeze that restores Focus to max. Is that alright? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better method for support? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Big Questions: -- Is the Ice Tornado really a thing or should I go back to snowballing people in the face? -- Is stationary shield better than mobile shield? Cause sometimes things get hectic and I feel my shield gets left behind and isn't really doing anybody any favors. -- What is the F ice skill for? The one that triggers when you get 3 Frost Orbits? And should that be my main attack? Cause my Ice Rain doesn't generate orbits but the Frost Bullets do...
Aquel
Personally, I ice rain as my big DPS w/ cold snap, which rains 6k+ hits which add up very quickly if the mob is kept within the cold snap. Then in between I will frost fury for focus back, which I also have set for life steal ( 2x on crit ) and then it will turn into the big hitting frost skill once you have ice orbs, this hits for 7k crits and almost always crits and returns 5 focus. Focus is not an issue for my rotation. Windstorm is set to extra damage and no threat, so when a destroyer or blade dancer picks someone up, I spam that for 4k+ crits over and over and over. Most I have seen is 18 hits within the time they had the mob picked up = 70k+ dmg. Divine Veil is set for stationary 15 second duration and stay when I move. I can place it on others or myself and just move in and out as needed to help mitigate. Ice Armor is 1 min CD stage 1, I don't need the big 30% HP healed as much as the lower cool down since frost fury is healing me up just fine. I also run frost sheath to armor myself as an extra option. I took out snowball and put dragonwhirl into glacial beam so I can stun, which is handy and use impact to also stun when needed. Inferno is set for instant cast so I can blazing palm once and instant inferno right back into ice rains to get my frost mode going. It is currently crit 9k+ I do not use tornado, but not against it either. I just don't have the spare points right now, maybe when I hit HM 5. The majority of my other points are in escape skills for helping me survive. I find I have a nice balance of DPS, CC, and ability to survive. I can help others with divine veil and slow mobs w/ cold snap / ice rain combos. I do a surprisingly large amount of DPS now that we have 3 cold snaps back to back. This build is not the highest DPS build, but I really like the fun it brings and I kind of made my character an Ice Queen so it fits. I do not drag my group down on damage, and it does not have any conflicts with anyone else ( aka burn builds using detonate ) As for my stats, running almost 52% crit rate with 198% crit damage bonus and using Siren with +25 attack power gem. ULFRIC
@Aquel Ah ok ok. My build sounds very similar to yours so I think I'm doing alright for the most part. I'm also using the Glacial Beam for the stun and the cross-combo that stops bosses from doing bad things. I did choose the big heal on my Ice Armor but I'm always wanting it and it's always on CD so I'm gonna probably try out the lower CD and then use Frost Fury as my primary sustenance. Which, I already have set to do the healing bit. I think I'm going to do some experimenting with my tornado. See what else I can do.
