Why this game is on track to become a failure in pvp...

Simple ... Bad game design

This game was sold as a fighting game cross mmo ( just take a look at a korean competition broadcast).

But what do fighting games have that is somewhat lacking in bns ? Comeback mechanics .

In a "good" fighting game a comeback is always possible (i m not talking about your opponent dropping the ball ) Just take a look at the legendary evo moment between daigo and justin in sf3 to see what i m talking about .

Lets take take games i used to play for exemple .

Soulcalibur 2 : not matter your hp you can always comeback because of the parry system the grab counter and the block mechanic .... all damage can be prevented in some way or another . You can be at 1% hp vs a 100% opponent and still win if you outplay your opponent .

Tekken 6 : Almost the same thing  no damage on block and every move can be countered or blocked .

SF3: you can parry EVERYTHING  even supers !

SF4 : focus !

GGX3: you got the flawless defense  and reduced damage the lower your hp

 

But  in blade and soul  some match ups are just *cricket*ed if you get behind and your opponent deosnt drop the ball hard .

As kfm vs an assassin if you get below 40% hp and your tab is down you know you lost unless the assassin messes up .

The stealth mechanic ensures that you dont have any counter play to some abilities ... you just have to eat the damage and hope you survive to keep fighting .

The fact  that an assassin can lock you out of your deffensive abilities and attack you while invisible and even resisting oae moves is unbelievable .

You got 40% hp with tab down ? the assassin goes invisible and starts throwing daggrers and grenades at you from stealth ...then he can jump on you ,stun and combo do death and even if he ^messes up he can still blind and try again .

Where is the counterplay ? where is the comeback ?

Maybe this game will keep being an esport in asia but in eu and na this kind of thing won t hold people long enought .

To be honest the problem with this game is the balance of power the devs keep creating.

 

Right now it's just on a rotation. There are always 2-3 classes that are above everyone else if played perfectly. And some match ups are heavily favored towards one class.

 

Basically for this game to make it big competitively, you need the players to be able to play all classes, and give each other a ban. Also, remove class remakes (updating skills, new skills, damage changes, etc.) until proven to be balanced over a month or two.


This insures that class remakes and new classes that are over the top never get played until balanced, allows for more diversity, and forces the players to play the game, not a specific class.
