I'm with virgin media

Okay.

There you go NCSOFT - Several people from the UK on Virgin Media have said throughout various threads that they are suffering from the EXACT SAME ISSUE. It clearly isn't only a Virgin Media problem but hopefully knowing this will help you figure it out.

It would be useful if somebody could start sending this information through Twitter?

I haven't been getting a response using these forums...

Oh I remember one of my arena mates from another game using Virgin and having issues in that game too.. Which was also NCSOFT servers.. However, that time around that guy solved his issue by fighting with Virgin for several weeks until they eventually found an issue with one of their nodes.

Checking their own forums it seems to be issues with a lot of games when it comes to that specific company. It might be worth it to make phone calls there to see if the problem is on their end like it was for my friend. After the phone call his internet gradually improved over the course of a few angry phone calls.

EDIT: Just for the record, not saying its Virgin only, a lot of people with different ISPs seem to have issues with latency issues in BnS

It affects way too many ISPs for Virgin Media to be the problem. Maybe all these ISPs have a similiar issue with BNS although I think that is for NCSOFT to deal with, not us.

It was a bit better yesterday in the dungeons. So I was happy and decided to finally start the PvP season. 8 wins, some loses, "Keep going, next one will be better, next one, next one... 12 loses later, keyboard to the wall, went to bed. Arena was absolutely unplayable, reaching to 500ms...

So I have issues also..

Let's start with my ISP: Ziggo Netherlands I have a 200/20 account (200 Mbps up 20 down)

Speed testing with Frankfurt (http://www.speedtest.net/) these are the results:

  • Leaseweb - Ping 19ms - Down 202.28 - Mbps Up 19.90 Mbps
  • Softlayer Technologies - Ping 16ms - Down 202.42 Mbps - Up 19.67 Mbps
  • Vodafone DE - Ping 25ms - Down 202.85 Mbps - Up 19.63 Mbps
  • Tele2 - Ping 16ms - Down 200.95 Mbps - Up 19.59 Mbps
  • Base-mail - Ping 19ms - Down 201.99 Mbps - Up 19.72 Mbps

A other game I play has also servers in Frankfurt and there I have a Ping of 19 to 33 ms so good enough.

In BnS I'm constantly bouncing between 18 to 300ms with sometime insane spikes and my combat totally goes sideways and stops.

Nothing works at that moment, I can only wait till it subsides and see what is left of my health bar.

In arena it can be even worse....

I recorded a arena match with my assassin I had the worst luck ever my opponent was a Blade Dancer ( allways have hard time with them)

Anyway my combat sucked (also playing on new keyboard) and I still won but this was not the point really, while recording I also captured system resources.

And the latency was well bad  for my internet connection.

Anyways check it out:

remember the port is 10100

My server is Starfall Crater and this is a cross server arena match

Welcome to South american ping guys. Now you can feel how bad is playing with 130+ ping to 250 - 300 and sometimes 400. But we are mostly playing from 140+ ms... And we can only pray for a Miami server or South american server.

My ping tends to stay at a nice 20 ms living in western USA, though my WTFast is picking up some bad lag spikes which is something I have been experiencing in game. Latency lag spikes mind you.

it does not happen in other games and the frequency is pretty high.

During initial release I did not experience latency spikes like this. Same with fps... It seems optimization has been getting worse and not better

People in the US using latency reducing programs and having a b!tch about 60ms, shit me. I'm not going to be able to PvP in this game, something I was really looking forward to, since I sit around 210-250ms on average - WITH WTFast.

Bunch of entitled prats.

Bring on the hate.

If you are going to post tracert or PingPlotter results, I would recommend using the IP 64.25.39.1.

This was posted by BladeandsoulOps for people to diagnose other connection issues recently.

Since the game servers don't seem to like to respond to pings, this is the closest we can get, however it should still cover all the major hops to NCSoft's servers.

I actually highly recommend PingPlotter, as it has helped me diagnose many issues in the past.

Although it certainly seems to be a game-specific issue, ruling out all other causes of latency even if you are also having lag to BnS is very helpful.

I'll link it here since it should be a trusted piece of software by now. World of Tanks, for example, recommends using it.

https://www.pingplotter.com/

It is free to use indefinitely, but the premium features are locked after a month.

If the mods request, I'll remove the link.

If you are being affected by the kind of latency/ping spikes mentioned,  please post your city and ISP.

I will also mention that it is possible that Arena matches go through port 11900, as this is associated with the IP that only shows up once you have connected to a match.

So keep an eye out for the latency on at IP as well.

There is a possibility that the Dallas Level3 hop next to NCSoft's servers has been having issues. This would need to have been occurring since the launch, however.

ISP and location information can help eliminate other causes.

Also, please only report if you are getting actual significant in-game delay along with Resource Monitor latency readings.

The way my own issues manifest is as extremely inconsistent skill response time, sometimes being instant, other times taking half a second.

My own info is:

Chicago, IL Comcast(Xfinity)/Level3

If NCSoft could provide us with an IP to trace for diagnostic purposes, that would be extremely helpful as well.

Why there are so many and how do I know which one I'm connected to?

How to use servers with 17, 19 or 64 ms?

I normally get 30 ping from other games. B&S it's constant 250-300, occasional 150.  I was doing an arena where I charged my opponent with a move in mind. He had the same idea and we both just passed each other up without a single spell going off. Now that's pretty stupid.

Different servers serve different functions.  At a guess there's probably at lteast a:

Authentication server.

Chat server

gameplay server  (maybe different ones, Arena, World, Dungeon?)

I'd expect the only one where high ping would really be even noticeable would be the gameplay server though.

I made this thread a bit ago:

*Disclaimer: I'm not no certified tech, IT Network specialist, but do know a thing or 2.. cheers*

So I decided to watch my network resources to see where everything routes as I connect to the game.

Launcher itself provides a battery of IP's, then the Client(Game) Itself bring up another 4 (sometimes 5) Main Ip's.

One (1) Ip appears in both Launcher and Client :

64.25.35.100 - Ping & Tracert shows this to be NCSoft.com Located in Livingston NY.

The other 3(4) are located in Texas
64.25.35.237

64.25.35.253

64.25.35.29
(64.25.35.63)

So which one of those 4(5) servers Controls Skills because I can move, chat to Npc, collect Items without trouble, but skills dont activate or they delay. The TX Ip's are first to Spike then the NY Ip.

Also Tracert  to those IP's has 4 Hops that goes to EU before getting to the final destination...

Thank Beejeebus for WTFast and PingZapper (which also suffers from the random spikes). Dont know how to play this game without it, I live in the Caribbean and have none of this issue with Aion my /ping is always 100-120 (raw) 80-100 (WTfast) which isnt too impressive but gets the job done.

Not even Tera which I re-installed and cramp up graphics a bit do I have this skill lag issue. So whats up with Your multiple routes to servers and this game why I cant play properly.

MAY JER QQ's  T_T

i posted last night in this other thread:

interesting (but not surprised) to see so many others have the same issue. the irony is that the game runs an order of magnitude better in something like misty woods faction camps where u have an all out mass chaotic brawl with a whole bunch of other players and npc's thrown into the mix... as compared to just a 1v1 in the arena. so why is the arena lagging hard compared to pve? it almost feels like arena is doing some weird peer-to-peer connection rather than to the server
