This defeats the purpose of exclusivity. Which is to drive a want for something not really needed. Same principle applies to popular nighclubs, precious metals etc, the harder it is to get in the more people want it. If they find more than one alternate route to get almost every likable costume in game or have the costumes traded, before the year is out everyone will have all the best looking costumes in their wardrobe. Everyone will be rocking the same shyt  like that good looking deva costume everyone has, cant tell you how annoying that was but I bared with it until I got my ncoins.

Like syndrome once said, when everyone is super....no one will be. Exclusiveness drives up the want for anything. Look around and see for yourself....its how the world works.

A ferrari is exclusive ... it has a pricetag. I can straight go and buy. Noone forces me to gamble it. Don't want to gamble.

Here's the thing. They made the game. They are allowing you to play for absolutely free. No one is forcing you to spend anything. If you want to be a competitionist with the costumes some will be harder/ more expensive to get.

I want enjoy all content (and i didn't say for free). I dont want a chance on content, if spending money.

Well that's their decision, its not too good a costume either, they can distribute it how they want.

So what have we learned here?

Whats the difference between a gambler and a non gambler? Simple, the former stays away from casinos and betting. The phrase "forced to gamble" is a logical fallacy in itself. If you dont want to gamble. Dont.

EDIT: The price tag is what causes its exclusiveness. You can straight go buy but the money it costs to actually buy it is what most people do not have. The few that have the money will buy it...simply because...much people do not buy it. Coming to think of it, you fortified my point even more.

Unless the item you want cannot be acquired in any other way, which is the case here.

Now, instead of "if you don't want to gamble, don't", it becomes "if you don't want to gamble, you're not getting this item". So, you are essentially forced to gamble if you want certain pieces of content that have been added to the game.

From what I remember of the livestream, it seemed like they haven't as yet decided how they are releasing the v-day outfits.  Which I find alarming.  Who wants to bet if these gotcha boxes do well, we'll be seeing the v-day outfits in new gotcha boxes?

Stop being tools.

It is exactly your mentality that has permitted and lead to the regular abuse of gamers we see today.  "They made the game.  None of this is required.  They can cut out or paywall whatever content they want."

Thanks for retailer exclusive bonuses / DLC.  Thanks for shitty, unfinished games.  Thanks for cash shop RNG boxes.  Thanks for timed exclusives.

Sound reasoning. However, costumes are something that is still a want, not a need. I would sing a  different tune had it been the latter but it is not.

I want a pricetag, thats all. No matter how high the price is. Those who can't afford it maybe try there luck on lottery for a Ferrari, I don't. I want pay directly for a guaranteed product. But I can't, cause by design it doesn't let me. The only way to get this Ferrari (or the next Lamborghini that will come) is by casino, but I want to stay away from Casino. So what?

You write like you think I'm a freeloader, if so, you are totally wrong.

People are rightfully worried that they will because many mmorpg's have done exactly that, jam all the goodies into rng boxes. I can't believe that this is so hard to comprehend for some of you. Some of us wanted a game where things were able to be purchased without gambling. To some of us, this was the last bastion of integrity for monetization in online gaming, that is the ability to purchase something with full knowledge of what we were getting.

This apathy and "well at least you know they don't do this and don't do that" is what's killing the consumer friendly mmorpg.  Someone's brainless girlfriend who thinks it's okay to spend a grand in candy crush might not have a problem with it but many others do, especially those of us who've had to watch mmorpg's devolve into slightly larger mobile games over the past decade or so.

They have seen the 40+ pages outcry here. I believe they will alternate from normal cash costumes, to cash-rng, to maybe some free ones like the new dungeon rewards. You are only *cricketed* if the ones you liked the most endup in those cash-rng-box without an alternative.

They started with the RNG too soon, some say that they promised no RNG and other promises were broken, too (no censoship).

At this point we have no reason to trust NCsoft and should expect that this is a possiblity.

The fact that there are some costumes that you can purchase directly, while the latest one so far is in RNG, I will wait and see how things play out. Will they allow the costume from the RNG be purchase directly after its trend has died out (after a year) like how Nexon does it with Mabinogi, or not. If they do allow it to be purchase directly a year later (or earlier), I don't really mind it. They should seriously make the costume that were purchase with nCoin tradeable and bound once it's worn, whereas costume purchase with the free currency or quest reward bond. This is really a lack of foresight on their part.

As for the other item in the box breaking the economy, I have no comment on it, but at least they are willing to give out decent item as consolation prizes. Since people complain it will ruin the economy, I assume it is tradeable.

These mistake really tells me they are really new to handling f2p game with cash shop. I said it before and I said it again, I will wait and see how things play out as NCSoft learns to handle f2p games and cash shop in a way that it does not upset their playerbase fans.

If they make their costume pure RNG box like Ragnarok Online II, I uninstall that shit right away.

How is this anything close to day 1 dlc? There you bought a game already and have to buy more, this is a free to play game, FREE.

That's the first of maybe many that will follow. You don't like this particular costume, okay, others like it. Maybe you like the next ones.

Then id buy a bunch of boxes and see if i get it, have some control man.

There's an android Tamagotchi game that does exactly that, MOE Can Change! lol. I enjoyed it for some time, spending money to dress up my droid, but I found my old nexus tablet constantly slowing down so I deleted a lot of apps to the bare essentials without entertainment.

When I found out that wardrobe was behind a monthly paywall I swallowed it because I knew that NCsoft needed money. (would prefer a one time purchase)

When they made a premium line for players I defended because I knew they needed money. (Plus there were founders who paid for the game even before release and tbh I think it's only fair that they would have a premium line)

When I found out that mail was a one time purchase I was fine with that because once again, I knew they needed money.

This however, I just cannot deal with. The community has spoken out again and again against RNG and what do they do? Add RNG.

It's not about it being P2W or the costume. It's about how they added something that the community made clear they didn't want to see.

Not to mention some of the things in the box *cricket*ed over crafters who made their money selling stones.

Idk, I can't help but feel that even after all this time they have little faith in this game's success and thus are adding in cash grabs. It's just screams that they're insecure about BnS to me. Which doesn't make any sense, seeing as what? 1 million people logged in to play in a week or so? People WANT to play this game,  Trust me if people like the game they will put money into it. However when they do cash grabs and put up paywalls...well, it drives people AWAY.

I guess the real question is how many people will it drive away vs. how many people will cave in to RNG

I understand why you are worried, but if you guys have sooooooo many griefs with the game, find something else to play. it is their business model, and whether we like it or not is up to us.

Its funny that 48hours before i would defend this game to the last breath and after boxes release its just  overflowed(bots, hackers, random dc,not working marketplace, invisible walls , glitching ,bad optimization) in me to the point i am refunding everything i bought until i seee how this ends i feel insecure about this game future and i dont want invest in something so badly taken NCsoft had brilliant in their hands and they cut it half right in front of my eyes, not even month after release.

(RNG boxes were just one big bad nail in the coffin...)

Honestly, I see a lot of their cash shop trying to duplicate Nexon Mabinogi cash shop without understanding why Mabinogi player accept their cash shop system and why the game is a success. Their price are similar, and so are their bundles, but NCSoft shows their greed and made their price higher. Their excuse is probably because of the candy eye graphics, but they never factor in all the features Mabinogi has and their RNG box has a decent rating to get the costumes.

Heck, in Mabinogi, rather than the p2p services, they started to rip out some of the VIP services and allow players to pay for those specific features they want at a far cheaper cost rather than purchasing the whole p2p services monthly. I personally love this feature, changing a $12 USD/monthly fee to a $2 USD or higher/monthly fees for features I want and use the rest of the money on costumes and rng =) Of course I also know the trap in Mabinogi where the monthly fee for services can be higher than the vip service if you want everything in it.
