You can sell the costumes which means players can buy and trade costumes either with other players or friends. Even Tera manages this better than what BnS has implemented. Lurkios
RNG boxes never have and never will be worth anything. They exist to fool fools. Offer you some absolutely miniscule chance at a payout. Tease you with some rare item that you, in all likelihood, wouldn't see if you opened 100 of them. You're playing not just a lottery, but an unregulated one. Anyone who buys these boxes is essentially burning money. There's nothing to be gained here.

Yea but some of us are a bit scared that the only items we'll be able to buy soon enuff will be RNG boxes. I like this game I want to support it but I also want to get what I pay for. OniOfTheSword
Now, if the whales would be kind enough to drive the price of moonwater stones into the mud, lil ol me would be happy buying them off the market and be happily geared ever after. (gotta love the gold from dailies) Though, I must say, any ideas I had of profiting from playing the market by crafting Moonwater stones pretty much went down the drain ._. Imo, I still wouldn't call the game p2w. Rather, it's p2w faster. Edit: Of course, that doesn't mean I'm for RNG boxes. But I'm not completely against them either. As long as it doesn't have game-breaking items put into it, I'm fine with it. Even this RNG box would be fine with me if it didn't have the moonwater stone (since it's a potential source of gold for me through crafting). I'll let other people buy a ton of those boxes and get their Moonwaters so that the price goes down on them and I'll just buy them with in-game gold. I get 25G a day anyway just doing dailies. Don't need these silly RNG boxes. Just gotta ask. What the HECK are you doing to make 25g a day doing dailies?

Shoshin
10 minutes ago, WhisperJac said: Just gotta ask. What the HECK are you doing to make 25g a day doing dailies? Well 25g a day might have been a bit of an exaggeration. It is possible from dailies at Rank 9 premium to get about 24.2g per day, if you do every single daily that is possible to do. on two characters. Now... Most of us don't have that kind of time. Typically, I have a rotation of just doing Misty Woods PvP, Poharan 24, Poharan six man, and Highlands Necropolis dailies. If you complete all of these as a Rank 9 on two characters you can get about 16G per day, and it only takes 2-3 hours depending on how geared your character is. That's about all the time I'm really willing to spend on dailies every day.

Not saying its for everyone but why are so many vehemently against it? I'm actually curious, so please be honest. Thanks. Lemme simply explain. They are against it because they buy the rng at boxes at 160 ncoins each, fully expecting to get their costume in 4 tries tops which still equates to less ncoins than the cheapest costume(800ncoins?) Once this does not happen, most of them flip out and lose their shyt. They say fak it and go all in...then their eyes turn red with rage when they realize the amount of ncoins spent getting one costume could have been used to get at least 2 to wear for the time being. So they come here to vent and express their utmost disdain for something they aren't really forced to buy and can actually do without since I find the costume, imho, looks like hot dog vomit. Most that can be done is to leave them be. Tbh I hoped the mods would have closed this thread like they did the other one since it isnt making much sense. Rng boxes are not needed to play the game. If you try it no probs but dont complain when you dont get the grand prize after 10^8 boxes were bought and used.
Jubanen
well... of course they arent worth it to buy if you just think of them in "cash value compared to their price"... Think of them as a donation to NCsoft, if you think NCsoft don't deserve that donation then don't buy those rng boxes. I guess they are also pretty exciting to open for those that like to gamble. Makes sense, but they are upset now that ppl can get moon tstones and soulstones from them, the t stones are way rare too. And they blame the rng boxes for a crashing price, instead of people underselling because their prices before were way too high. Now they dont make as much money as more people get access to it, and the rng boxes are an easy scapegoat. That's my guess.
NueHoujuu
Things like gambling and lottery profit by making win chances for those things 40/60 or worse in favor of the casino. Let's say you're trying to get the outfit as a drop from the RNG Box. Let's say there's also an equal chance to get any of the secondary items from the box. To get it on the first roll you have a 1/14 chance, or 7% chance. To get it on the second roll you have a 1/13 chance or 7.5% chance (assuming they do not allow duplicate item wins). I hope this thing was just a way for them to test the community's response to them. I'd rather see NCSoft find more stable ways to generate income like offering features everyone will actually want (instead of making windstriding take "1 second" less time... what...). I've seen a few okayish suggestions.

Please elaborate, I won't do it for you. I haven't bought an RNG-CASH-BOX in BnS nor in any other games. I'm pissed about the fact that content (yes, that my be new to some folks, but for many cosmetics are contentpart of a game they want to enjoy) are exclusivly locked behind gamble. No alternatives, not tradeable, no directly purchasable for cash (whatever pricetag). With a softerotic themed game, those costume-designs are an USP and highly demanded by alot of players (maybe not for everyone). I don't want to get forced to gamble with money for a contentpart of a game, even if it has no particular benefit and is plain cosmetic. There are many ways to solve this Problem: + Release the exact same Costumes at the same time in Shop for XX-XXX $ pricetag + Or put a guaranteed (100%) cosmetic-token in these boxes that you can trade for the cosmetic after collecting x-amount of these tokens. To have a max. pricetag on it. Fair enough. + Make those cosmetics tradebale over the marketplace (but as babbletron stated, won't happen!) Maybe some better idea exist that didn't come to my mind, but seeing more of those precious costumes locked in those boxes ... please stop madness. Which is to drive a want for something not really needed. Same principle applies to popular nighclubs, precious metals etc, the harder it is to get in the more people want it. If they find more than one alternate route to get almost every likable costume in game or have the costumes traded, before the year is out everyone will have all the best looking costumes in their wardrobe. Everyone will be rocking the same shyt like that good looking deva costume everyone has, cant tell you how annoying that was but I bared with it until I got my ncoins. Like syndrome once said, when everyone is super....no one will be. Exclusiveness drives up the want for anything. Look around and see for yourself....its how the world works. They are allowing you to play for absolutely free. No one is forcing you to spend anything. If you want to be a competitionist with the costumes some will be harder/ more expensive to get.
