If done fairly, RNG is somewhat acceptable, but if rig too much, may end up having a backslash instead. The crafting system already irks me that I require premium item to craft them. NCSoft cash shop system honestly gives me the impression is that is is way more expensive and far less rewarding to be worth the investment in the RNG box. Here are two publisher I will use as example:

 

How Nexon Deals with it

Nexon Mabinogi solve the whole RNG thing for costume fanatics easily. Within the first year the is only obtainable within RNG box, and it's not just 1 outfit but multiple outfits in the same RNG box. Their costume rate are pretty good, because every 11 box I've open, I always manage to get 1 to 2 of the selling point (costume) of the RNG box. The year after, you can buy the outfit directly within limited time period without playing the RNG game. The direct purchase of costume/pets is change every single month, and it is usually the time when I do buy the costumes. But the biggest advantage to Mabinogi's outfit is that they are all tradeable, never bounded, and dyeable forever! I literally deleted my old Blade Dancer and made a new Blade Dancer because all the outfit looks bad on it due outfit color not matching the character.

DragonNest costumes can be purchase directly affordably even if they become bound.

 

How AeriaGame Deals with it

AeriaGames deals it differently for their games. One game, they had the RNG rate improves for the costume after each purchase. Another game have it so that as long as you spend X (I can't remember if it was $50 USD or $100 USD) amount of money/currency points on the RNG box and you still have not receive the costume, the next purchase is automatically the costume, and it will reset the spending counter. Other game gives reward points (That are reset monthly) for spending X amount of money, which you can use those reward points to buy those outfit directly. In all games, the costumes are tradeable but becomes account bound once worn, thus allow a way for free player to obtain cash outfit and stay happy. Furthermore, they always offer multiple color variation of the same outfit in separate boxes.

 

How NCSoft Deals with it

NCSoft made costumes non-tradeable and forces you to spend even more money to trade it. The only reason why players in other game accept RNG box is because they are tradeable and are account bound. Lets not forget, costumes in B&S are non-dyable (without other variations or color). Their biggest disadvantage of not having new outfits release every 1-2 months.

 

I've purchase from other publisher, and even spend on mobile games. I will say it, I'm not 100% against RNG if it is done properly, but the way NCSoft is handling the RNG with costume as the selling point with their current costume system is unpleasant and not worth the investment at this time. I'm just glad that none of the game outfit looks appealing to me at all.

this is a cosmetic item that you have to fork over money to have. JUST like an expensive skin in CSGO.

 

there's plenty of non RNG box cosmetics, buy those. if you want this one, hand over the cash. if I want the stat trak hyper beast awp, i better be ready to sink in a lot of money on keys and boxes. same shit here

It's not about the money as stated many, many times before. I want a pricetag on it, not a chance to win content or maybe not. Since the are NCOIN ONLY and NOT TRADEABLE, I have no direct guaranteed access to it, only through roulette, casino, gamble. I will never gamble with money involved. That crosses the red line for many of us. 

But calling us "kids" already shows where this simple minded post of yours come from.

Its not alone that costume. I would instanly buy boxes if they just contained ONLY cosmetic costumes and nothing more. Ofc if there was something that i liked but now that they made them p2w boxes i refuse to spent any money to lying backstabbing shit company

Because every day im exposed to shit what happens in world if there could one day be peaceful and butterflies flying around i could put my mind in rest.

 

They stated before came out that there would not be any sort of p2w stuff in cash shop.

  • Will it be Pay to Win?
    According to NcSoft Blade & Soul will not be Pay to Win. The Cash shop can be used to purchase things such as Costumes, basic consumables, inventory expansions and other simple things like that. Nothing that can give a player an edge over an other.

And now theres rng box that allows players to obtain every expensive material for their gear so they can evolve everything to last stage without any effort. Top of that its crashing economy with these boxes and who suffers from this? Well players who arent doing this.

Personally don't care about the RNG boxes. I won't be getting them since there is absolutely nothing of value to me within them. There's a few convenience items and an outfit that I don't particularly like. They can add in as many RNG boxes as they want, but if they aren't going to put really really nice things in them, I won't buy any of them.

There are roundabout 175 more costume-related items to come to US/EU: If the best ones (or the ones you like) end up in RNG-BOXES only ... maybe then you'll understand the peoples voices here. That's what I and many other ppl fear to face with this approach. Content locked behind RNG-CASH. Not behind Cash, behind lottery, gamble, casino, "a chance to get" or whatever you like to call it.
