Roxi
Hello, well, I came here because it's not just here and told the faction chat and some friends of mine and they are good the same problem, the server is very lag is unstable and sometimes the connection loss and the game is over closing. Whenever I played had some lag a reasonable ping but ta now very difficult to play and a few days ago the same happened in this period of the day, sorry for my English but making the question I asked in the chat, just me or do you also felt this instability? Dracconus
Judging from your"Sorry for my English" in that statement I'm going to fault on the side of assumption for a moment, and guess that you're not from America. Now, since you're asking in the English forums I'm assuming that means that you've been trying to connect, and play on the U.S. Servers. The servers are (from what I've been told) hosted in Dallas, Texas which would mean the average ping for an Oceanic player would be somewhere in the range of 150+MS which isn't particularly HIGH, but when you add in the fact that there's probably some sort of proxy, VPN, or VPS allowing that connect, the poor infrastructure oceanic ISP's have, and the DNS relays that you're going through you're going to be looking at some problems. My suggestion to you would be the same as it is to everyone. Find a "Locale" of the game that's closer to your Country of residence, and try it. Otherwise there's really nothing that anyone can do for you. Until NCSoft expands the market that they have on their Oceanic servers, and the Oceanic servers have better infrastructure it will be an ongoing issue. If you're experiencing the issue at a "certain time of day" please consider that 1 minute ago is considered "Peak" time in America, so it's highly typical for users outside of the country to experience such issues. If you don't want to lag during peak hours, and you're not in America, don't play. That's the best advice I could give you.
Roxi
Thanks, but do not use any vpn access program, I'm from America and use the google dns. Yesterday was great the game in this schedule only has days that most lag the topic was more out of curiosity because my friends and people from the chat I talked spoke the same thing, I created this topic because at the time I saw no related but thanks for the tips, I see if I can do something in order to improve. Dracconus
Yesterday was Friday, not Saturday. Saturday night, everyone's home from the mall, mom and dad have finished dinner, kid sister is put to sleep. 9PM is peak time on the weekends, and it will stay that way until at least 2am Tomorrow morning. That's Saturday in America for gamers. I've been on literally all day and have not had any issues with lag. Perhaps the issue is that you're using DNS, although I highly doubt it since Domain Name Services has nothing to do with direct IP connections in a game. Domain Name Services are what allow your computer to translate URL's instead of making you have to type out the website's host IP. So in other words, DNS lets you point your browser, pingtrace, etc. to "google.com" instead of 8.8.8.8 It however, has nothing to do with the low level connection that the game establishes because the game doesn't USE a URL, it uses an IP. (As far as I know) that could be false, but either way, using a public DNS like google is a bad idea, because there are millions of people out there just like you thinking it's a good one, and using it. I'm not sure what you know of server traffic, lane congestion, etc. so I'll save you the technobabble jargon, and lecture, but let's just say you can't pour wet rice out of a bottle and expect it to flow freely. When you're using Public DNS that's exactly what you're doing.
BuckForte
I have to agree with Roxi on this Every since the update patch came, I'm having major ping lag from the game like the same thing happened on the 1st and 2nd beta. This isn't even on the level of oversea lag It's spiking 400ms every 2 seconds in here. Roxi
Draconus Hello, thanks for replying again. What I am finding strange is that even because I am foreigner my ping was not so high when I was playing a few days ago and an overnight rose sharply, okay it's schedule peak but even in high traffic hours and many people believe that the server would have to endure all connected to the same quality as 10 people connected. And as the BuckForte friend told and what we see he is not abroad and this with the same problem, and as I said in chat talking to some players they reported the same thing, perhaps one or the other or some regions but do not know what can really be. Dracconus, it's not because I'm not fluent in English or something like that I do not know what I'm talking about or doing. Working with networks and telecommunications understand a little about what you said, but I've tried a few ways to solve the problem with that actually this is not a topic to solve problems but to report a problem, as I said I spoke to several players and they from different regions and countries reported the same thing. So I created the topic not to solve my problem, but to alert them it is not only me that with this problem.
Dracconus
I understand that this is a bug report forum, and while I am in pleasant company knowing that you've got experience in telecommunication I'm just making sure that the basics of troubleshooting have been covered because it's not a GLOBAL problem, which means it's not so much a problem with the Client, or Server as much as it is an incompatability with individual systems running certain hardware/software/network configurations and quite possibly one of the dependencies that the game uses. In other words, I don't think that the "update" is what caused the issue as much as it is probably one of the Dynamic link Libraries that get loaded in the background for the game to run. Another thing to note is it may not be the game at all. In the patch they updated nprotect, and gameguard, and that very well may be the stem of the issue right there. It may be a fault in the code somewhere, but more than likely, since it's not a global issue it's more likely a problem with certain configurations. In this particular situation I think the best thing you as a player could do besides general troubleshooting (and anyone else you know that's having the issue for that matter) is to post your MSINFO, or submit it via email to support@ncsoft.com - That will tell them everything running/installed/and services on your system, and allow them to cross reference with other players having the same issue to see if there are similarities that might be causing the issue.
