Don't worry dude, your character will be the way you left it. It gets updated when you click 'quit game', but when you DC it doesn't do that.

Same thing happened during the crash a few days ago. It showed my character 10 levels behind what it was, and once I logged in everything was back to normal. Happened to us all, heart attacks all round!
