Low FPS on decent computer?

I dont know if I'm the only one with this problem. I bought a 970 to upgrade from my 2 770s that I was using and am still getting relativity low FPS for using a 970. Some areas I even drop all the way down to 50~ fps from around 90.

My specs are 

 

Intel Core i7 4770K @ 4GHz

GeForce GTX 970

Asus Z87-PRO

8gb ram

 

I am not even running on all high and still have terrible fps dips.
