Non-Hostile NPC attacked me

Quest: Chapter 17: The Test of the Eight
NPC: Cerulean Order Hansu
Description: 
    When I approached this NPC in the Cave of Judgement I tabbed out of the game to take care of something. When I tabbed back in this NPC was attacking me. I moved away to perform a distance-based attached and the NPC stopped attacking me and appeared freindly at which point I initated dialog.

it was suppose to happen as a "test of strength" of sorts
