51mb patch every time I start the game.

Title says it all.  Is this really necessary?  It's really annoying especially since the patcher always trickles down to 0/kbs untill I force it to restart, and my internet is rather slow to begin with.  Then there is the 85byte repair file download that happens every day also, which always takes way longer than 85b should.
