Do the races provide any type of boost to classes or is it just for show (aside from class/job specifics)?

 

Is there any type of damage or main difference between summoner and force user?

 

 Which is currently preferred/most common?

So far it does not seem that Races/Gender provide any boost to anything more than cosmetics for outfits or class/jobs combinations.

 

Summoner is more about your pet, you have an animal that you control and does damage with you. Force user is a typical mage style with combos. Fire/Ice.

 

Never go with currently preferred/most common, go with what you want to play. I say that because flavor of the month changes, and patches will dictate which ones are powerful and which ones aren't. What's good today may not be good tomorrow.
