Try these it might help:
 

1- Disable your firewall.
2- Disable your Anti-Virus.

3- Run the game as Administrator.

4- Run the game in a compatibility with Windows 8.1, 7 or XP (SP2 or 3).

First test Firewall disable ( im play for 50 seconds)  =)

Download this file, Extract it and replace the "aegisty.bin" (Before you replace it you better copy the original one to other location in case something happened) in [ C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSOFT\BnS\bin ] with the one in the link:

I have the same problem. I tried what JouJu said but it didnt work however if i open task manager then click BnS it will enter the game then freeze again

I have searched for solutions and found these:

-Install vcredist. 

-Delete Gameguard folder in [Program Files (x86) > NCSoft > BnS > bin] (I recommend copying it to another folder before deleting it) 

Hope it works this time..

After choosing your character could mean it's linked with graphics problem or missing files, considering you're not the only player having this problem, this means missing files are unlikely to happen, so it could be something with your graphics driver or settings.. Try changing resolution and quality it might help..

Also, there's a similar problem happening when you have Razer mouse synapse, if you do have then follow these steps.. 

 

Razer:

• Go to task manager
• Choose "Services"
• Find "Razer Chroma SDK Service" and choose it
• You can't stop it by right clicking it, it says access denied. You need to click that "Services"-button on lower right.
• Find "Razer Chroma SDK Service" again, click "Actions" and "Stop" (it's grayed out on me, because I've already done it)
• Click "Actions" again and choose "Properties"
• Open the "Startup type"-drop box, and choose "Disabled", Apply, OK.
