This guide really made me laugh, but in a positive way. xD

I feel so casual now, because I only want to get one character to max level at the weekend.

Not hate, thoughts !

Well, just think about it: If you follow this guide, what would be the negative repercussions? You will be well fed, you will have a support system of family and friends who know what you are doing, you will have a support system of online friends who are doing the same thing with you, and you will take necessary breaks.

In what way are you endangering your health if you follow this guide?

Nice guide!

I think op meant for discussion to be about. What else can  you do to stay healthy while you playing video game for a long period of time.

So, to follow what (I think) was meant to be in discussion.

I would add electrolyte on top of Water intake. Similar to when you work out. You don't want to over hydrate and dilute all of your minerals in the body.

Also power nap would help and make it much more tolerable, 15~30 mins in about every 6~8 hrs or so.

Do it as a team or partner up with your friends/family/battle buddy. So while you take a nap, He/she can hold the fort. They can either catch up with their gears upgrade, crafting, or small tasks while you nap. Then when  you are up to go back. They may take a nap too, and let you catch up with other small tasks that you may do while waiting for both of you to be ready for the next quests/ leveling session.

I've done this before with my military friends. But since we used to work/train for multiple days straight w/o sleep. It's kind of work for us. But it might not work for you. Make sure your health can handle it, which will make a lot of different.

That's just my 2 cents...

Thank you very much, indeed I really want to get suggestions on what works for others. I didn't think of mentioning electrolytes as the food/plans I mention already have enough minerals but for sure, they are worth mentioning - especially if feeling dehydrated due to forgetting to drink for a while.

I'll add a note on them, thank you once again.

I know people died from extensive gaming, but you can reach max level in BnS within 24hours, I bet people can do it under 20 hours. I don't see anyone dying to 24hr gaming.

I though this guide was teaching us what to do to real max level asap. Because I'm a casual gamer and I don't have much time playing this game during weekdays.

So from what you said 24 hours seems to be what's need, that'll be like 2 to 3 weeks for me then.

As a fellow guild leader im embarrased for you Deioth, when you grow up, perhaps get a job, or maybe even have children and become a parent you will realise how important sleep is to the human body. I make the assumption you have none of these as no decent adult would encourage gaming without sleep to anybody let alone clan mates and push it onto others as a veiled perverse claim of helping. Creating a guide to play without sleep is irresponsible if nothing else childish.

For your information you can be competitive in online games with a balanced lifestyle which includes, family, friends, sleep, work and exercise.

A balanced lifestyle doesn't have anything to do with staying up for 24 hours ONCE. This kind of dedication can be towards a concert or a New Years Party or a movie festival or pulling out an all-nighter for work too, it's called PASSION. It doesn't matter FOR WHAT, If some gamers are passionate enough about this game to dedicate 24 full hours of their life to it, i don't think anybody should judge.

There will be people out there doing it anyway, and filling their bodies with sugars and energy drinks for the whole 24h, a ,,guide" like this shows you how to RESPONSIBLY do it. It's like kids having sex without condoms because you don't wanna give them the talk. People will do it anyway, so let's at least do it in the least harmful way possible for our health!

People are making too much of a big deal out of this.. If someone wants to pull several all-nighters to get to endgame fast, then that's on them and it's their choice. Frankly, the "stay healthy" portion of this guide is much more common sense than guide.

I would point out that sleep cant be banked. You dont sleep for 24 hours and then you can go 24 hours without it. That's not how our bodies work. Sleeping too much actually makes you more tired, it doesn't give you more energy.

I take it you are a doctor that has done numerous studies on sleep and what harm the lack there of can do to your body?

The human body is designed to get a certain amount of rest after a period of time (between 4-10 in a 24 hour hour period depending on the person). You have no idea what irreversible damage you could be doing to your body by going that long without sleep; especially sitting for the most part in front of a computer.

If you really believe there is no harm in this guide how about printing it out and taking it to a couple of doctors, and ask them if they think that it is a good idea. Lets us know what they say.

oh jeesh, all this doctor talk all over the thread..

drinking(alcohol) is not good for your health. Doctors won't say it's a good idea, but we all do it anyway, don't we?

in the same way a guide saying "if you drink vodka, don't try mixing it with milk" is not exactly the worst thing ever.

quite honestly, i strongly believe 24h gaming marathon won't have as serious and irreversible consequences as a night of drinking.

and again, nobody is telling you to do the maraton, but if you are, at least know how to do it without stressing yourself too much.

finally, for the love of god, please don't go "having a blast with friends drinking is more fun than gaming" on me.

Except the guide is for a 2-3 day gaming marathon not just 24 hours. Yeah 24 hour isn't that big a deal but going 2-3 days with no sleep can have serious repercussions on some peoples health.

then don't do the 3day marathon. or don't do any at all.

it's a guide, not an encouragement or an order.

There are many comments which condone gaming marathons, again you all fail to see that they are not encouraged - it is towards those who want to do them so that they can at least have a more informed opinion. All statements do have a strong scientific reasoning, but again I am not a doctor nor a nutritionist - I suggest you ask them if you plan on doing a gaming marathon. Of course I agree that a gaming marathon isn't healthy at all. Again, the very first paragraph is a disclaimer explicitly stating just that.

The reason this guide was created was because every Headstart I see part of the community posting how they won't sleep and eat pizza and drink energy drinks and yes, it does make me worry for them. In the past it was the same with my friends until we discussed and tried to figure out a healthier way. Whether you agree or not that people want to have gaming marathon quite frankly doesn't mater - it is the harsh truth but they aren't illegal and many gamers will do them.

As a fellow guild leader im embarrased for you Deioth, when you grow up, perhaps get a job, or maybe even have children and become a parent you will realise how important sleep is to the human body.

I stopped reading after your first sentence. With all due respect, you know nothing about my married life, nor my studies so please do not make empty statements based on ignorance - it shames only you :-) Unless you want to have a discussion which doesn't first start by trying to offend someone else (which failed in this particular case) please do not post in this thread those toxic comments. You also failed to understand that I do realize how important sleep is to the human body is, which is why I worry when some gamers undertake marathons unprepared - hence this guide. Furthermore I have done extensive reading on the subject, actual scientific studies with facts (not blogs that just say things without experimental proof) and you will be surprised as to how the military and scientific communities who have a focus on sleep actually realize that we have a lot of misconceptions about it.

That's exactly what I would like you to do, go ask the specialists. I would really like to hear their feedback on actually helping have a safer experience doing (rather than denounce as quite of few people have done in this thread) something that is not illegal and will be done either way by the gamers who want to do it. I did ask in the past some GPs but their common statement was that it is not their area of expertise and I can't afford to go see specialists just to ask them questions.

I truly believe that this guide does much more good than many of you are stating. If not for this community, I know it has helped many players in the past (the previous version was for our WildStar guild).

It's funny how everyone just misses the real point of why doing it (not the healthy way to stay awake for 3 days) but the Rush endgame marathon is stupid itself, this game is mostly instance based, there is no real reason nor adv to gain over others while rushing cap lvl ASAP, the only reasons i can think about would be either have an adv over people doing arenas while they're still low lvl without all the skills (talents), or killing low lvls at Open world...

This game is ment to be enjoyed while you immerse yourself in the storyline, maybe experiencing parties with random players to make some questing, etc, it's far from being a game where you can obtain real Adv while rushing endgame, a good example of a game of that kind would be Lineage 2, where with it's full Open World thing with constant fight for good spots, raidbosses and epic bosses which liretally have "real time weeks" of respawn time (the entire server can kill it just 1 time) really makes the effort of being first worthy...

I personally think that besides being pointless to do such rush in Blade and Soul, it would also be counter productive, i can see these marathonic guild/players rushing end content really fast just to come back at the forums crying for content updates ASAP, apart from that, good guide mate...

Edit: there might be another good reason to lvlup fast, and that would be to lvl up multiple characters as fast as possible, yet i don' think that doing that worth several days of no sleep at all...

How do people not see the difference between "push it on others" and "prepare properly"

Deioth knows people WILL be doing this, every MMO launch has dedicated players who do this... He's just preparing them with information on how not to get a blood clot and die.

My tip: Every so often do 5 minutes of fitness - spot running, star jumps, press-ups, sit-ups... Whatever you're comfortable with that helps blood flow quicker.

i want at least my main and maybe 1 alt to be lvl45 before the f2p release. After all i want alle classes maxed out and my endgame will be farming outfits - that will eat enough time.

But anyway - it should be up to everyone self to decide how one wanna play the game.

I find it incredible you are still trying to justify your irresponsible nonsense. Your stance and language has moved full circle, initially a guide and now by page 3 your all concerned, I don't buy it sorry, your several edits to your guide due to all the criticism in this thread prove this. You should take it down its ridiculous, you simply should not be posting how to marathon game without sleep.

I make no apologies for my post on page 2, you intimate your married I find this hard to believe that a grown adult would neglect his partner and all responsibility for a marathon gaming session. If your prioritising a game over your wife I can tell you straight you got issues. If you have children then in accordance with the Law your potentially committing an offence of "neglect" and could be arrested.
