KR devs don't care what you put in there; not sure about NA though.

I ask because there was thread on dojo, person put sexy anime gift in the profile and got character (if i am not wrong?) blocked. :D

I believe this was touched on slightly before in another thread. I'll try to look it up later.

However my understanding is that pretty much if you have to question if its okay to put up, it probably shouldn't be there. If you wanted to put up a image of a woman in a bikini it's fine, but if you put up a woman performing a sexual act you're probably going to get reported by someone and have whatever actions taken.

That is my understanding of the matter, someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

EDIT: Here ya go, closest thing I could find posted by Youmukon:

https://forums.bladeandsoul.com/forums/index.php?/topic/143194-need-some-filters-on-player-pictures/page-2#entry1448376

Hello!

Thanks again everyone regarding the feedback on Player Pictures. As some of you may have pointed, letting user-generated content (UGC) into the game also mean that there's a risk of abuse. And as of now we are aware that there's no convenient way to report players in-game for such violations.

However using the
Blade & Soul Support Site, players can still be reported should any kind of abuse occur (this is valid for Profile Pictures but not only). Just submit a Ticket to report someone.

I will also take the opportunity to comment a statement I have often come across on forums, saying that because Blade & Soul was to be rated Mature in North America, all kind of behavior should be accepted. Online interactions (which include Chat or any kind of UGC) aren't part of the rating process.

We at NCSOFT have
our own Rules of Conduct. When it comes to behavior expected from players online our Rules of Conduct are stricter than what a Mature rating can typically allow. This also applies to Forums in here. If you are unsure if something would break the rules, then it most likely does so don't publish/say it.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in making Blade & Soul online environment enjoyable to everyone.

That's what i tought of, but some people these days get offended by nothing and would report that woman in a bikini which is fine in your scenario... smh. :D

Basically, if your *cricket* gets hurt because you don't like someone else's image they put in their character profile page, you are free to report them and NCSOFT will block their ability to log in.  Though I think it's only a 24 notice that they have to change the picture.  YAY ENTITLEMENT!!!!

Edit:  ok, that was a fair rant, but here's what I really think.  I think people should be able to put whatever picture or gif on their character profile.  I mean, it is their ingame character profile, they should be able to put whatever they want.  If they choose to put something bloody or something with nudity, that reflects on the type of person they are.  Just because you don't like what they put up there shouldn't mean that they get reported and action taken on their account.  If they wanted to prevent this issue completely, they would add an approval process to profile pictures uploaded or just disable it altogether.  Personally, I think that if you inspect someone's character and find an image you don't like, you should be the bigger person and just move on.

At this point, i'd say it's all about risk.  If you don't put pictures that show ecchi (mostly nude) or nudity in general, you should be fine.  That said, I don't think that NCSOFT has any problem with the super gory pictures (haven't heard of any issues yet).  The game hasn't been given an official rating yet, so that's also a topic that's up in the air.

It's not stupid to ask and no one gets hurt. I can only give my best educated answer based on my experience, but I beleive it would depend on if you took the image from a source that clearly stated not for the work to be redistributed in addition to you trying to make it out as your own work/make a profit in some way or if you hijacked it from a project under NDA circumstances. Those are some extreme and specific cases though, so I think you're fine :)

Well, technically it does say upload picture of your CHARACTER :).

But as others have mentioned used common sense, if you have to ask your self "is this okay?" it's probably not okay.

Just... don't post porn or something offensive. Really simple.

And that thing that was posted that Youmukon said doesn't really count for much either as he's already stated on several occasions that everything is up to interpretation. The game doesn't really have a rating, it's all dependent on whatever GM/CM/Mod handles your situation. If they think something is "too much" here or ingame, you can receive a penalty, if they don't, it's fine. Those rules don't count for much either, they're just a sort of "guideline" that gives you an idea of what MIGHT be the rules - it all ultimately comes down to just how many people you offend and if the Mod that sees it agrees with them or not.
