Someone need to close this post already

    Nah.

The forums are kind of depressing of late. This thread is the most consistently positive reflection of people just enjoying the game. Still, it is amazing that it has somehow managed to remain active all of these months without a sticky.

I've been following this thread for a while and I absolutely love all the char creations that the community has put forth.  However one thing that piqued my interest was how a character is deemed as well liked? (this i just based off how many likes it got since there is no other way to tell if ppl approved of the char or not) On some characters I felt they should have gotten far more likes than they got while others I was surprised at how well received it was.  I've seen ultra THICK gons to kinda pedo style lyns...from runway model yuns to ultra realistic jins.  So i'm curious...what determines if the character is well liked or not and what people base their criterias on?  Feel free to message me, I'm trying to understand why people design their characters certain ways. (Lol I'm actually very curious behind the thought process on why people design ultra thick gons...as for other questions I'm also intrigued on why their char have so much makeup they kinda look like a clown or why some people design their characters with unrealistic proportions...as for the troll characters...I understand and upvote those especially) Any feedback is appreciated...everyone has their own views and likes and as for me I just want to understand their thought process.

    Hey Snow.
Deemed well liked by the author, or the community?

The characters I uploaded I crafted to be unique among all the submissions and characters that I have seen. Simple as that, no one else has done it, so I did it. Can't exactly tell you where my compass for beauty was crafted, but I follow it.

As for the community, and I can only speak for things that I have submitted I'm conflicted with what well liked means. I looked at the post that has the most upvotes, but found that the images themselves had the least views to date. In contrast, a certain couple of glamour shots that were uploaded in another post racked up hits in record time, --with multiple downloads per connection-- yet were not upvoted as much. So I don't really know what the community likes.
Never claimed to of course, I just felt like sharing a couple of characters. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I feel the same way about uploads that have a ton of makeup, it adds a stigma of "fakeness" to an already fictional character, imo. Not to say I haven't seen some excellent applications, where it really makes the character's face sing.

The Gon thickness thing is predictable; this is a subset of a specific quality of beauty. Just the same, when people go overboard with the sliders, it just looks bizarre. ...Though there are some things I have a higher tolerance for ignoring. People who craft these characters probably share some certain suspension of disbelief when it comes to proportions, and see no issue.

Ok, I give up on how to post a pic 5 ways to sunday and just getting the link to show =/Xn2QoKn

That's because the forums parse direct links to images, and not the image link URL you have there.

That is the difference between this:

and, http:// i.imgur.com/GrAXVmv.jpg (minus the space character) which results in an image being displayed:

    good luck.

I made me a sexy Warlock.  She's so pretty, I had to take the picture from low orbit to avoid getting blinded by the dazzling beauty that is my Warlock.

At the time I decided not to post more and choke up the thread with glamour shots:

    *Bump*

My god...that toon looks so realistic with proper proportions.  Good job best looking toon ive seen so far.

If you like that type of character, you should take a look at some of the things that Whimsical has uploaded.

I won't re-post Whim's content without asking, but You can see for yourself what he did over in that "maintenance" thread.(long since buried by now) He even shared the preset afterward for the first character in this thread on page 63.

Some of the best, hands down.

I finalized my first ever Lyn (Summoner). It wasn't easy to come up with something 'unique enough' (for me anyway). I had trouble trying to make her not look like 80% of the female Lyn population (and I'm not sure I actually managed a unique appearance, it's probably average).

Lyn are a mystery to me. I can't come up with a good preset, but this one is superb.
