  1. I know there's enough threads complaining about the bots, How about discussing solutions though? I'm just copy/pasting this from another thread, as I thought it deserved its own. Thoughts and discussion are welcome, if you see any flaws in my idea please point them out! the problem is, the botters are connecting through VPN's, so a region block on china where most of them come from, would do nothing. they can ban as many bots as they want, but there's a nonstop flow of them to replace the ones being banned. they wont ban people for using VPN's, as it's a necessity for many players due to the poor internet infrastructure of NA and large geographical distances. I have an idea that would maybe kill two birds with one stone though. NCSoft adopted a VPN service for the chinese BNS when the ping was a big issue there for many of the BNS CN players, due to the same sort of issues that NA is having, with large distances and poor infrastructure. The VPN service for bns CN works quite well for lowering the ping there too. I used it myself when I played on the chinese servers to go from 350+ ping down to 200. If NCWest got their own VPN service for BNS NA and EU, they could then put a region block on china as well as IP blocking out other VPN services from connecting, and having those same region+IP blocks added to their official VPN service to keep the botters from using VPN's to connect to the official VPN service. This would lock out the majority of the botters. A lot of people currently in NA don't have optimal ping for the game, and they won't use a VPN because they are afraid of being falsely flagged from it, or they don't want to have to pay for the service. Having an official VPN service for BNS would solve those issues. It would solve the latency issues for a great deal of players, as well as giving NCSoft a reliable method to successfuly block out the regions where all of the botters are connecting from. Maybe one could argue that NCSoft won't do it because of the costs, and that they would lose profits without all the bots around buying premium. But think of all the extra players who would be playing, many buying costumes and other things for their characters that the bots never would have. I think there's a lot more to gain by removing the bots and making the game more enjoyable for the actual playerbase.

  3. GAMEGUARD

It's sort of ironic lol, gameguard's supposed to do something against the bots (which it doesn't), yet honestly, the issues gameguard causes are a lot more annoying than the bots. Probably more players are being lost due to gameguard, than due to the bots, just because so many people literally cannot play with gameguard. Seriously, gameguard is just as bad a problem as the bots are. NCSoft may not have control over the bot issue, but they sure as hell have control over the gameguard issue. It needs to be removed, it's damaging the playerbase too much.
  4. It's because the rising prices of moonwater tears + quartz made merry potters no longer profitable. A lot of crafters have dropped merry potters and taken up radiant ring instead, so the supply of diamonds has risen quite a bit. The greater the supply, the faster prices drop due to people undercutting eachother. Some people might also be dropping forgekeepers for radiant ring, since the prices on moonwater tears has almost doubled, greatly reducing the profit from crafting the siren/pirate weapon glamours.
  5. Does gameguard even do anything?

Added a little something to your analogy :)
  6. 5 days ago there was a couple threads about the aion login servers getting a strange redirect when attempting to log into the forums. It showed up for me too when I tried to login, and I ended up waiting until yesterday to try logging into the forums again. this is what showed on chrome for me attempting to login I didn't click proceed, but screenshotted it and emailed ncsoft support about it immediately. Basically, when we login to the forums, our login data is sent to each of the login servers for the different games. IF the aion login server data was being redirected by hackers, than anyone who logged into the forums during that time would have had their account name (email address), and passwords leaked to them. They could then login to the account via the website, and if anyone used the same password for their email as they used for their game account, then they'd be shit out of luck. I'd normally think that the chances of it actually being hackers would be pretty slim... but with the recent threads of people saying they got hacked and the similarities that connect them... it actually seems like the aion login server really may have been compromised.
  7. Looking to expand my gaming playlist, as well as just maybe discover some new good music I like more upbeat stuff for PvP, or chill instrumental for well, chillin', or anything with some good jammin bass, but post anything! Post what you like to PvP to! or what you like to listen to while just hanging out in town You don't have to like what others post but please try to avoid criticizing others. Lets share some tunes?
  8. niceeee lots of good music being posted, thanks guys!
  9. ty for sharing! all for people sharing playlists too if they want!
  10. I still don't like gameguard, but i'm not going to stop playing the game because of it and I guess if it actually does catch some hackers and macroing, then that makes me feel a bit better about it. If it's here to stay then i'll put up with it. A server-side protection would be so much better though. So what do you guys think would be the best ways to combat the bots and spammers? Does anyone even actually buy gold off them or are they just baiting people to their websites to infect their computers? Honestly last night when every chat was down but the /say and /whisper chats, it was really nice.
  11. I'm scared to login : (

Having issues with the Razer Mamba Chroma mouse. Twice now my mouse has randomly disconnected while playing, and I have to unplug it and plug it back in for it to work. After plugging it back in though, the sensitivity gets all messed up, and the game gets extremely laggy. Also both times, after closing the game though the lighting would come back on my chroma keyboard, it doesn't on the mouse. The sensitivity on the mouse would also stay messed up, until I restart the computer. Even after restarting the computer, it doesn't come back until I open synapse and re-assign the lighting to it. I don't have a single button assigned to something different from the default. I'm playing bns as if i'm using some random keyboard and mouse with no capabilities, closing synapse before running the game. And gameguard is still screwing with it. Before the last patch, this never happened once. Another person on the forums was saying that since the patch, their PC started making a strange high pitched noise while running the game. That can't be good. I'm dead sure NCSoft won't reimburse any hardware that is ruined by their poor decision to force gameguard on us.
  12. Bots want to friend me now

They just keep evolving inb4 skynet
  13. I GOT BANNED!! Why?????

While doing faction dailies this morning I killed the same 5 different bots multiple times, 3 of them changed channels or logged out, 2 just kept running back. Time to pray to the gods they didn't report me using their hundreds of other bots to get revenge.
  14. WTFFAST IS BANNABLE

Well... NCSoft COULD make/buy their own VPN service for BNS NA. When BNS came out in china, it suffered from the same sorts of issues due to geographical distances and poor internet infrastructure. What'd they do? They acknowledged the problem, and created (or adopted?) a vpn service specifically for BNS CN. I honestly don't have high hopes for it becoming an E-sport in NA unless they do it. Currently too many players are unable to play at the competitive level that would be required for it, due to latency issues.
  15. Screenshots of amazing characters !

sorry got too excited when I saw him, forgot to ctrl+X before screenshotting
  16. I GOT BANNED!! Why?????

What about all the people who posted in that thread yesterday about being banned, who were all unbanned afterwards because it was a mistake caused by the player reporting function? As much as it bothers me seeing spammers, bots, and exploits as a master pack founder who bought it for the costumes that could never be achieved again, seeing one legitimate player get banned for no reason bothers me a whole lot more.
  17. Just gonna quote myself and leave it here. I've voiced a strong opinion against gameguard for awhile now, some might think it's for fishy reasons, but no, I just don't like the fact that my games performance is being impacted for literally no good reason. I don't like that some people are putting their computer at potential risk of breaking down because of it. I don't like that it requires people to shut off their antivirus to play the game, it's false game security at the cost of real PC security. I don't like one single thing about it. And it's an extra slap in the face having to deal with it, when you log in game and see all of the spam and know that all the headaches it's causing you are for nothing. Just leaves a really bad taste.
  18. Show off your characters!!

My girlfriend and I on our new warlocks! never thought i'd end up making a male character, but who can resist ERP (jk jk)
  19. Despite the game still opening with gameguard, the gold spam is back in full force just as as bad as it has been. Didn't even take them one day to bypass it. How can you guys still think it's worth it? I honestly don't see a single reason you guys would, except if what another user said is true that gameguard pays NCSoft to datamine our PC's. It's the only logical reason I can think of, with all of the glaring problems and proof time and time again that it doesn't successfully perform its "intended purpose"... As long as the anti-hack/bot protection is client side, people can modify it and bypass it. There needs to be some type of server-side protection, even some ingame GM policing would go a LOT farther than gameguard to combat the current gold seller and bot problem And yes, making a server side protection costs money. Hiring ingame GM's costs money. But wasn't NCSoft boasting about having 2 million players not too long ago? I'm pretty sure most people buy at least premium, if not more things like costumes etc. Come on, i'm pretty sure you guys have the resources and are more than capable of doing much better than gameguard!
  20. +1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. So, normally when running this game with synapse disabled, while the lighting effects on my keyboard and mouse turn off while the game is running, they come back after the game is closed. my mouses sensitivity stages just randomly reset themselves in the middle of playing just now, and a few minutes later my mouse stopped responding entirely and I had to unplug it and plug it back in. This is without synapse running. After closing the game, while the lighting effects came back on my keyboard, they still didn't come back on the mouse, and the sensitivity stages I have normally saved on it were set back to the default ones. I had to restart my computer and open synapse to make it work normally again. Welp, here's to hoping a good $200 dollar mouse doesn't get it's built in software broken beyond repair by trashguard. didn't see any gold spam ingame and maybe gameguard is actually helping with that. but we all know the bots and spammers will have a workaround within a day or two. - nvm already heard of people complaining about seeing bots.
  22. *sees 5 ceruleans and walks by them seeing if they are the bloodthirsty type, but no reaction* "Hmm, guess it's safe to kill this npc for the quest" *starts attacking npc* *suddenly stun/daze/grab/aerial locked by the 5 ceruleans*
  23. Cerulean Outfits

ah, as long as you kill any of the opposing faction npcs they will spawn. In the scorching sands they'll always spawn in the same spot near the middle, while the misty woods bosses will spawn on the body of killed faction npc which spawned them.
  24. Honestly, every time I see it run when opening the game, it legitimately makes me kind of pissed off...
  25. Cerulean Outfits

At the scorching sands you can kill faction npc's to spawn a couple mini boss npc's in a row which will drop insignias once you kill them. You need to get 80 of those insignias for the second faction uniform, and can get it from the faction exchange npc at your factions scorching sands base. To get the third one, you farm the faction npc's in the misty woods to spawn a few mini boss npc's that will drop the insignias you need for the elite uniform. The elite uniform costs 100 insignias, and you exchange them for it at the exchange npc at your factions misty woods base. Edit: there's also a fourth tier faction uniform but it has to be crafted through guild crafting and is insanely expensive to make.
