  1. Oldish thread but yeah, there are a few threads about this. The decisions of the writers in this game are both rather sadistic and plenty of questionable. I mean, when even the damn Yes Men (yes, THOSE Yes Men) have a much better intro than you, we know something is REALLY wrong. I also learned already that some Korean writers love to go overkill with the killing of children (and child like beings, like wiping friggin Brightstone TWICE!) in their stories. So prepare for more of that in the coming chapters. But yeah, what I really despise is that they scripted our characters to be on their own heavenly level of stupidity. By now might as well never show them in cut scenes anymore if they are all going to end the same. (Check the Tomb something orange sub quest for yet another fail scene)... I think I will simply skip all scenes and conversations in act 10 if it ever happens, because I know I won't like what I'll be seeing. I also regret they changed the story and removed the option to stay on the dark path. Instead of giving us the whole "you lost because you went dark" speech, only to lose even harder after turning good again.... By now, I would love it if Jinsoyun just transforms again into her adult self but this time with a bit of good in her to start stomping on the baddies like the badass she was. At least she could dole out some real vengeance. Anyway. For games where your character is a literal badass, check the God Eater series and the Dragon ball Xenoverse series. Not MMOs, but the cut scenes involving your character are really pleasing to see. I'd say, check them on youtube or something, since I'm not going to advertise the actual games in a forum for another game. For this game however, on anything not a cutscene and not a one shot raid, your character can be pretty much a demi god.
  2. From what I understand, most, if not all non private MMO servers do maintenance weekly. It ensures things are running at an acceptable level. The devs and publishers would love to keep the servers running infinitely. But things have to be done to keep them running (file integrity checks, storage inspections, checks for malicious software, and the like), so a few hours of maintenance are the side effect of that. It's all akin to having to stop your car to change it's oil.
  3. I'd prefer to have some weapon skins on the shop as well. I've been in and out of this game since it launched, but other than the very first months, I haven't seen a single weapon skin for direct sale ever... Seriously. This game has so many cosmetics yet the shop has so little to offer (plus outfits that haven't been rotated out since ancient history). It's vexing.
  4. Can one obtain level up event outfits like Secret Keeper in any of the existing exchanges? If no, that would be one nice outfit to have. other outfits I don't know if they are available right now and I would like to obtain would be the NPC outfits (Yunwa, Soha, Lycandi and the like)... These are my own picks though. Not everyone finds them good, so that's one thing to weight.
  5. I don't know about destro (well I don't know anything in depth about any class), but perhaps the utility you seek (the one that helps people meditating) may be buried within the new system? The new way to pick skills have changed quite a bit. Some skills have been outright changed or maybe removed in favor of new ones, but others are simply buried in this or that talent. Check each talent and read each skill description. A sad byproduct of the current way talents are done is that sometimes a talent will shove a skill effect you like with a skill effect you don't like, or you are sometimes forced to choose if you want this effect or that other effect, in the end losing one you would have liked to have. But in general, you can make some fun combinations with it.
  6. I personally don't really play these for rewards. I just want to see the sights or just waste time doing anything before real life pulls me back in. I couldn't do them when they were top content because of what I said previously (I'm simply bad at gaming nowadays and no amount of training have changed that so far, sadly) Also, spreading meaningful rewards through too many dungeons may have unexpected results. I mean, what if all dungeons had kickass rewards? Wouldn't that make newer dungeons less appealing?
  7. I'd vouch for a choice. I myself suck too much to do current dungeons, so my only fun in this game is from doing old stuff I feel safe doing. Sure, I suppose I'm either a minority, or alone in being the suckiest BnS player ever, but I like what I can do in old dungeons. On the other side, none of those dungeons are too relevant right now, and are only for either outfits or for filthy casuals like me to safely solo without ruining anyone's runs.
  8. I'd say they should make it so open world pvp is worth again. How? Don't ask me. I'm no dev and I'm certainly not a pvp person. But I understand that at least in the West, people really love their pvp. So instead of talking about removing factions, instead, at least those with the knowledge, start talking about how to revamp the whole thing instead. May breathe new life into the game. Now, the removal of clans from factions and untying people from factions altogether (make the content outfit dependent like with all other minor factions) seems like a good idea. It wouldn't even change Cho's windwalk quests, since you still have to wear a faction outfit for them.
  9. If you mean HOW to assign points instead of where to place them, go to the skills menu and click on the blue bar named "Talents" above the talent selection to switch around between showing your skills or your talents. Click on one and up and down arrows will show up. Click them to place or remove your points.
  10. I believe we must grow over that workaround. I know about those two (though dropping effects to a minimum still keeps some parts of this effect.... only uglier looking). I mean, while others let the staff know about things important right now, like lack of this or a broken whatever, this thread's purpose is to simply let all them know and remember that this specific issue still exists, regardless of what "workarounds" people have tried. Though seriously, it'd be pretty derpy if we see a staff member advising against paying for premium if the user didn't like only a cosmetic effect. Instead, I suppose the staff here have already sent this issue to the devs in Korea more than once. This is just a reminder that we are still waiting for it. Anyway, forgive my kind of broken train of thought. Not really having the greatest of days..
  11. ouch. There is quite a bit of story between 38 and 60. I assume you were either finishing up Cindernalds or starting up Moonwater. Now, level 38 happens rather quickly, so if you decide to make a new character just for the story, there's wouldn't be that much to catch up.
  12. So it's 2019 and we still don't have an option to turn this thing off? Yes, I know this has been talked about dozens of times before, but through this thread, I want to let the devs know I, and I suppose others, still find it a detracting issue. In fact, it makes me sometimes cancel the membership earlier than anticipated, just because I get bored of having a character with a certain theme ruined by an effect that doesn't match (like a fire themed FM or a guardian Warden, for example), or simply because I just don't like certain effects for certain classes. Now that the classes have updated variants, I believe the option to turn these off could have been the next nice thing to have. So yeah, friendly devs, know that I still wait for this option. It will make me use premium membership a bit more often. Thank you.
  13. Hopefully this game doesn't croak early like Kritika NA did. That game didn't even get to finish it's main story....
  14. The way I managed to make at least the controller work (nothing else does) is to make a new shortcut directed to the actual game shortcut (The .lnk, not the exe) instead of the old way. As you can see in the pic below, I just placed the shortcut next to the game itself on my game storage drive. So look for your shortcut wherever you have left it (it defaults to desktop and start menu so look there first). This is how it looks on my end. Now, instead of using a controller configuration on the game shortcut, it now requires you to use Steam's desktop configuration instead. So go to Steam>Settings>Controller>Desktop Configuration to find it. That's the only config it's reading as far as I know. Also, you lose gamepad mode, so you will have to emulate the keyboard 100%. This is my own personal config: Again, nothing else seems to work. No Steam overlay, no Friends menu. I haven't tried launching it all on BPM so I'll leave that as your homework.
  15. If you mean the one described as "Learn to live in peace", that act is not out yet. Gotta wait for an expansion to be able to continue the story.
  16. Does your mouse come with software that can be used to emulate KB input? If it does, see if you can emulate the talisman key combination and add it to your desired button. Now I admit, this game's key config is rather strange. You cannot move skills around in the skill bar, and your only way to config anything is through actually changing which key does what. Compared to other games I've played, this one is awkward and required a bit more effort...
  17. Yeah. The voucher completes the base game for you, which is why I recommend getting at least one character through the whole story without using them. The only things I consider as "must do" that the voucher doesn't do for you are the Hongmoon clan mini quest (to unlock talents), the last few windwalk quests to get your wind walk points to 40K, and the Temple of succession (for upgraded accessories and gems).
  18. I'd like to know what level your character is and what story act and chapter he/she is in. I'd say to go through the whole story at least once, and make another character to use your voucher on. The recent quest change removed most side quests up to Moonwater. Silverfrost and up still has it's side quests mostly intact, though those later areas didn't have too many side quests to begin with. I'm currently running a KFM through the story and leveling process and she's right now doing the Gunwon city stuff. on a premium account (+30% to exp), I got level 55 (and the ability to do ultimate skills) by the time I entered the story version of Heaven mandate. Got level 60 somewhere around the "New Hong School" arc, and after feeding her a bunch of exp charms, she's now HM 6. I assume by the time I get to finish act 9 and are able to get talents and the temple of succession quest, she will be somewhere around HM 12, which would be the same as the voucher gives. Since my account is currently running premium benefits, I can't calculate how the character would level without those benefits, but a full free character, I assume, wouldn't run that far behind. Anyway. Story is easy for the most part. The section I myself had trouble with was the Twisted Grimhorn area. It's a hassle to do it without the help of HM points or a better weapon, since the character is limited to being HM 0 and a story weapon with only two gem slots. other than that, story offers no challenge at all. Oh, forgot this too. If they haven't changed it, I believe that if you make a new character using a voucher, you also get an outfit from the voucher's initial training area.
  19. Please! I have been wanting exactly this since the forums were first setup! I don't care about full custom avatars. All I want is to be able to choose something different. And this is exactly how most mmo forums I've been to have done it.
  20. Maybe, in the shop page itself, instead of just having written "30", "90", "360" days, they COULD change it to read "30 days Monthly/Recurring". At least people will see that word up front and know it's a renewal.
  21. How long has it been since you emailed? I don't expect an immediate response. Much less now on weekend, so I'd wait until Monday or even Tuesday. As for "prove your identity", be ready to answer stuff like your character names and servers they are in. Stuff like the date of birth and any address you put on the account and other security questions. With so many people trying to steal accounts and identities out there, expect the process to be tight.
  22. Well, for now, try the usual cocktail of default workarounds to eliminate sources of problems. Drivers, running with less background programs open, and all those little things we can do ourselves to rule out this or that cause. Last resort for now would be to keep using the old launcher and wait to see if the devs can make a more compatible version of the new one. You will get the nag prompt and the link to get the new stuff, but you can ignore it for now. The game will function normally with the old launcher.
  23. Premium from the web site has been recurrent for as long as I remember. It's clearly displayed in more than one place. If you want 30 days, you pay for it and unsub the next day or somewhere within those 30 days.
  24. Odd. The launcher should ask for admin privileges always. If it's not directly set to open as admin, it will still prompt you when opening to let you know it's taking those privileges. What version of windows 10 are you running? I'm still on 1803 and no problems here. This wouldn't be the first time a "stable" version of Windows 10, Like the current 1809, gives this or that problem on this or that application...
  25. From experience, usually those whales who trash talk and look down on others are those who use daddy's credit card. At least not everyone giving money to this game is like that. As I said, I can't consider myself a whale but I have spent a lot of money in my gaming hobby. Also, for some reason, simple mode remains greyed out on my end whenever I checked that option.... No idea why. I could use that for some classes I REALLY suck at. >.<
